ABBOTSFORD

In the second round, Brian Anderson had an easier-than-anticipated win over Craig Riddell.
Friday night’s friendly match was against SBC cleansing department with both home rinks, skipped by Ian Macdonald and Brian Anderson, recording victories.
In the pairs competition afterwards, Tom Boyd and the Happy Hibee defeated Vic Graham and Alan Morrison in the final in a closely contested match.
TWEEDBANK
IN WHAT was a quiet week for the club only the seniors were in action with the first leg of the Portotweed Cup against Portobello at Tweedbank.
The winners of the cup will be the team with the higher number of shots over the two legs, with five rinks taking part.
Portobello had the best of the opening ends but the hosts came back and gradually edged themselves into the lead. With just a few ends left to play the result was still uncertain and with a difficult away leg to come Tweedbank needed to finish with a shots advantage. The final result was a victory for Tweedbank, but this was only by four shots and Portobello will only need to win the second leg by five overall to keep the cup.
In the coming week it is back to action in the Jock Brodie competition and both senior men’s teams are in action.
The A team play Midlothian in their first game, while the B team are against Falkirk in their second match in the round-robin stages.
