MELROSE full back Fraser Thomson has described this Saturday’s British and Irish Cup home clash with Nottingham as a must-win game.
Melrose’s heavy defeat in the reverse fixture last week leaves the Greenyards side bottom of Pool 8, but Thomson believes his side can turn it around on home turf.
The 23-year-old told TheSouthern: “We played Nottingham two seasons ago when they put out mostly an academy side and beat them, but last week they were at full strength. We got a bonus point which means the group is still wide open, but we need to win this weekend to stand a chance of progressing.”
Gala face a trip to Moseley after last weekend’s famous win over the Birmingham side, which included a contender for try of the season in a move involving flanker Craig Keddie.
Keddie told us: “The try was one of them where everything seemed to come off, with five or six players involved from start to finish.
“Aside from 20 minutes in Llanelli, the boys have been outstanding in this competition and we’re excited to go down to Moseley and take them on.”
