THE South of Scotland Select Team arrived home from the European Championships in Pezinok, Slovakia, having had an amazing experience representing Great Britain.
Stacey Macpherson, Lucy Younger, Shannon Purves, Charlie Lochhead, Sophie Aitchison and Izzy Klye competed on Aspen Delikat, lunged by Rebecca Hewit.
They put on their highest scoring set of compulsories to lie in sixth place after the first round before a few little slips in their freestyle dropped them a couple of places to finish eighth overall in a very high-class event which was won by the German team.
This was the first championship for three members of the team and a huge amount has been gained from the experience.
Stacey Macpherson also competed as an individual in the junior female class. She put on a very strong display in the first round to finish in 15th place, which qualified her for the final.
Her second round was even better and she finished in 13th, and highest of the three British females. Stacey also competed on Aspen Delikat, lunged by Rebecca Hewit.
Reserve for the team, Emma Counsell, also travelled out and took part in the inaugural child individual class. Vaulting on Mamby’s Murphy, Emma qualified for the second round and finished in a very good 13th place.
The team would like to thank everyone for their support in fundraising and donations, without which they could not have made the trip to Slovakia.
