EARLSTON Tennis Club’s £220,000 new facilities are due to be officially opened on Sunday.
David Marshall, president of Tennis Scotland, will do the honours at a special ceremony.
The afternoon starts at 1.30pm with a fun session for children.
The club was successful in obtaining grant funding – 90 per cent from Scottish Borders LEADER – a joint Scottish Government and European Union funding body to support rural communities – and 10 per cent from the Lawn Tennis Association.
As a result, the club now boasts two full tennis courts, floodlights and a children’s zone with two mini-tennis courts and practice wall.
Refreshments will be laid on and everyone is welcome to come along and get involved in tennis.
The new facility is built on the old site and accessed halfway along the High Street at the back entrance to Earlston Primary School.
