REIVERS hockey veterans Paul Conkie and Colin Stockdale (pictured) have again been picked for the Scotland over-45 squad.
This year they will not have to travel abroad as the home internationals are in Edinburgh in June and the first official World Cup will be in the south of England in August.
Both players are looking forward to meeting old adversaries again this summer and hope to gain some better results.
Colin told TheSouthern: “We now have a more settled side and a stronger squad of players attending training sessions which will allow us to be more competitive in future. I hope our effort will be rewarded with some good results.
“We will have to be on top form to compete against sides packed with ex-internationals and Olympians in August. It’s an honour to be on the same pitch as some of these guys.
“Home advantage in Edinburgh will give us a good chance of success against Wales and Ireland so that we can go to the World Cup with some confidence to play teams from Europe and the Southern hemisphere.”
Paul and Colin are not expecting to retire any time soon as they have had Reivers legend Colin Tucker as an example – he played regularly into his 60s for the Reivers and Scottish Veterans.
