EASTER Sunday and Easter Eggs were the theme for the competition and prizes at Braidwood for last weekend’s Yarrow Trophy event.

After the wintry conditions earlier in the week, things improved significantly for the first qualifying event of the 2012 summer series.

Donald Livingston (Edinburgh) kicked off his campaign with a clear win over the first layout scoring 37 ex 40 to claim the Yarrow Trophy. Runner-up slot was shared by two guns on 36, Rab Neil (North Berwick) and Davy Craig (Edinburgh).

Four clubmates were only a single point behind them.

Although Livingston went on to shoot a creditable 34 over Layout Two it was only enough to tie the fourth highest score of the afternoon.

Gordon Boertien (Lockerbie) just missed out on the perfect 40 to finish one ahead of Neil Cattanach (Innerliethen). Craig and Jim Brodie (Denholm) had the third highest score of 36.

This second round win coupled with his earlier score of 35 gave Boertien an overall score of 74 and the day’s aggregate title. Four other guns made 70 or more. Craig, Brodie, Livingston and Cattanach broke 72, 71, 71 and 70 respectively.

The next club shoot is on April 22 when Paul Allison (Hawick) is the defending gun for the Trophy with No Name.

Two weeks later, on May 6, the ground hosts the Hull Cartridge Company 100 Registered South of Scotland Sporting Championship.
