THE Under-21 tour, held at the Reivers Bar, Galashiels, saw tremendous results for two local players in their first major competition.

Daniel Brown and Jason Bowers both made the latter stages with Bowers missing out by one frame to make the final. It was left to Brown, who put up a great fight, going down narrowly to a Lockerbie opponent with international experience. Both played well with lack of rules knowledge letting them down on more than one occasion.

Last week’s Border League matches saw High Level keep the pressure on Division One leaders Waverley A while chasing Ship A came a cropper at the Fleece. Relegation threatened Dryburgh and Waverley B was rather one-sided in Dryburgh’s favour.

Reivers B wrapped up the Division Two title after looking shaky to start, but finishing in style against White Swan. Ship B whitewashed the Bridge, still cruising in second, and Reivers C, chasing hard in third, crushed the Queens Head.

Results – Division One: Dryburgh (Newtown) 7 Waverley B (Hawick) 2; Fleece (Selkirk) 5 Ship A (Melrose) 4; High Level (Hawick) 5 Abbotsford (Gala) 4.

Division Two: Nikis B (Gala) 1 Reivers A (Gala) 8; Reivers B (Gala) 7 White Swan (Kelso) 2; Reivers C (Gala) 7 Queens Head (Hawick) 2; Ship B (Melrose) 9 Bridge (Gala) 0.
