Edinburgh University III 2
Kelso 1
EAST LADIES’ PREMIER DIVISION
KELSO travelled to Peffermill last weekend for a tricky encounter with a young university team.
Both sides started the game attacking and with Edinburgh having most of the opportunities, Kelso’s defence cleared some well-worked penalty corners.
However, it was the visitors who took the lead just before half-time, with Martha Douglas making a great burst down the right and delivering an excellent ball across the face of goal for Sarah Hope to slot home.
Edinburgh came out strong in the second half, with Kelso having to make some crucial crunching tackles to stop the young guns getting through on goal.
The Tweedsiders held on until the last 10 minutes, when fitness levels started to show and Edinburgh managed to draw level from open play. Only two minutes later, the university side found themselves in front when confusion in defence led to a sloppy winner.
Kelso pushed hard for the equaliser with some nicely played penalty corners and great balls through to their strikers, but were unlucky.
