UNDER-15 GIRLS NATIONAL CUP QUARTER-FINALS
ONLY 10 girls were available to make the journey to Carrick for the quarter-final of the Brewin Dolphin Cup and the match was played with the same number in each side.
The South – which includes girls from Langholm, Hawick, Selkirk and Melrose, as well as two from Murrayfield Wanderers, put in a fine performance which brought a resounding win with virtually complete dominance.
As the players are from a number of places it is sometimes difficult to get everyone together for training. On this occasion they gelled as a team from the start and put pressure on Carrick straight from the kick-off.
There was only two minutes gone when Lisa Thomson gathered a loose ball in her own half for the first of her five tries. Other South scorers were: Malvina McGeoch (2) Caitlin Cottril and Rachel Weir. McGeoch added three conversions.
Langholm development officer Iain Park praised all the girls and said it was the finest performance they had produced.
This win put the South into the semi-final which will be played at Langholm against Auchterarder, probably on Sunday, March 11.
Team: Emily Beattie, Rachel Weir, Iona Bruce, Lauren Meager, Ellie Seed; Caitlin Cottril, Rachel Law, Lisa Thomson, Malvina McGeoch and Nicole Campbell.
