O’Hara named Fairies boss

Gala Fairydean have confirmed John O’Hara will lead the team next season, writes Kenny Paterson and John Slorance.

O’Hara took over temporarily following the departure of Garry Fraser in March, who cited uncertainty over a proposed consortium takeover as one of the reasons for his resignation.

Edinburgh-based O’Hara, who leads the Fairies to Eyemouth United this weekend, said: “We have targets for next season which include pushing for promotion. The club has been underachieving for too long.”

O’Hara’s coaching team will include ex-Whitehill Welfare goalkeeper Darren Walker and two other names who have yet to be confirmed.

O’Hara added: “The team will be made up of mostly Borders players with a few from Edinburgh as well.”

Elsewhere, Kelso United travel to Leith Athletic tonight, followed by Peebles Rovers on Saturday.

Hawick Royal Albert welcome back Gordon Ramsay and Steven Drummond for their home clash with Duns.

Selkirk host Burntisland Shipyard, while in the Premier Division Vale of Leithen are away to Edinburgh University.
