Ross High 8
Hawick Linden 36
This was Linden’s first game for four weeks, and it showed, in a rather lethargic first-half against the bottom-of-the-league team.
Hawick forwards struggled to gain possession against a big pack who continually rumbled forward with the ball.
Remarkably, it was Linden who took the lead when Sean Goodfellow went on a powerful run up the line to touch down.
Ross High replied with a penalty goal and further indiscipline in the Teri ranks resulted in a yellow card for Terry Skeet.
A lucky escape was had when an easy penalty went wide and the visitors limped into half-time with an edgy 5-3 lead.
A stern interval team talk by coach Lee Stewart and a shuffle of players did the trick.
Linden were on the attack from kick-off and further tries from Stuart Williams, Blaine Willison, Steven Bouglas and Ben Gilchrist (2), three converted by Barry Sutherland, completed the scoring for Linden, with Ross High managing a try.
