A total of eight teams battled it out over two sections last week to decide the South of Scotland Schools Hockey Championships.
Peebles HS, Galashiels Academy, Jedburgh Grammar and Berwickshire HS locked horns at Tweedbank, while Earlston HS, Kelso HS, Hawick HS and Selkirk HS contested their group at Earlston.
Section A proved to be a very tight affair with Jedburgh emerging victorious over Galashiels after a penalty shoot-out.
In Section B, however, Kelso won all their matches, defeating Earlston 3-0, Hawick 1-0 and Selkirk, who were runners-up in the group, 1-0.
The first semi-final saw a very closely-fought game between Jedburgh and Selkirk. Only a penalty corner awarded on the full-time whistle enabled Emily Newlands to put the ball into the back of the net with a great strike to send the Souters latter through to the final.
In the other semi-final Kelso were quickly into their stride and within a minute Claire Hill had scored their first goal.
Kirsty Veitch and Claire Hill added another one apiece to make the final tally 3-0.
So, the final was a repeat of the earlier section game, but this time Kelso dominated the match.
Just as in their semi-final, they started quickly and with some excellent passing down the right, Claire Hill took the ball along the base line, drawing the keeper, and played the ball back for Lucy Ramsay to slam between the posts.
A second came from Jennie Robson in a goalmouth scramble and a third via Kate Lesenger with a good strike from the top of the D to ensure that Kelso won in a convincing manner, although Selkirk never gave up the fight.
