CFC Bowholm 2
Hawick Legion 1
Legion made the early running in this bottom-of-the-table battle through some probing raids.
It was Bowholm who opened the scoring, though, by sailing into the lead against the run of play in the ninth minute.
Jordan McLeary robbed Legion’s Thomas Scott of the ball in the centre of the park and raced forward to fire home.
With 26 minutes gone, Bowholm added to their tally when Stephen Muir touched in a Lewis Hawes corner kick at the back post.
Legion had the upper hand for the remainder of the first half, but just could not turn the pressure into goals.
Seven minutes into the second period, however, Legion eventually did the business when Jody Easdon floated a corner kick over the face of the goalmouth and Chris Brown produced the scoring touch, beating Bowholm keeper Lee Field with a header.
With Bowholm on the defensive, Legion piled on the pressure for the remainder of the game in a bid to snatch an equaliser.
But the home side stood firm and held out to record their first win of the season.
