Gala Hotspur 4
coldstream Ams 1
Gala Hotspur will meet holders Ancrum in the final of the Walls Cup after defeating Coldstream Amateurs at the Netherdale 3G Arena.
Luke Geirus opened the scoring after he linked up with Duncan Kemp and forced a Coldstream defender to hit a clearance against the Gala winger.
The Streamers equalised with a close-range effort, but Spurs responded straight away when Kemp fired home from the edge of the penalty box.
Holding a slender half-time lead, Gala started strongly after the break, but had to wait until 70 minutes before Callum Gass produced a neat finish to make it 3-1. Spurs then made a series of substitutions and it was one of the replacements who grabbed the fourth.
Man-of-the-match Stuart Harkness was brought down in the penalty area, and Michael Blackwood scored from the penalty spot to secure Hotspur’s first cup final for three years.
Spurs have not won the Walls Cup, contested by sides in the Border Amateur League’s Division B, for 12 years.
Gala Hotspur thanked John Robertson of Stewart Technology for sponsoring the use of Netherdale 3G Arena and buying new match balls for the semi-final.
The club also thanked Niki’s Bar in Galashiels for its continued support.
