LAUDER schoolboy Richard Taylor led the Scotland Under-18 squad to a momentous victory over the Irish last weekend.
Following their first test as a team against England in Darlington the weekend before last, the squad regrouped to meet Ireland at Laigh Bent on Sunday, and ran out convincing 25-0 winners with a controlled performance.
The victorious Scots were captained by Taylor, 17, who is a boarding pupil at Loretto School and is attached to Melrose RFC.
Jonathan Hewat, director of external affairs at Loretto, said: “We are delighted at Richard’s selection and appointment as captain of the Scotland Under-18 XV – just reward for all his hard work and commitment. Richard is one to watch for the future.”
The only other Borderer in the squad was Hawick PSA hooker Ross Graham.
