North Berwick 48

Langholm 8

RBS EAST LEAGUE ONE

THE Milntown men were looking to secure a much-needed victory, but this was another dismal effort in what has been a very disappointing season.

North Berwick went in front with an early penalty goal.

Langholm were in control for the next 15 minutes, but they just could not get points on the board.

Langholm centre Niall Cubbon sent a penalty attempt wide and then fly half Keith Davidson saw his drop goal attempt rebound from the post.

Shortly after, prop Jason Ratcliffe looked to have secured a try after Langholm set up a driving maul from a line-out, but the referee ruled that a player was offside.

From then on the home side dominated and ran the ball at every opportunity, and slack Langholm tackling was exploited, with North Berwick building a healthy 20-0 lead by half time.

Langholm failed to improve and every mistake was punished by a well-drilled home outfit, which stretched further ahead.

Cubbon kicked a penalty for Langholm, and he forced his way over for a try late in the game.
