TOP French Club Clermont Auvergne will play in the Aberdeen Asset Management Melrose Sevens on April 13, where they will be joined by Saracens, Worcester Warriors and India.

Melrose Sevens convener, Ian Cooper, says he is delighted at the calibre of the sides his committee has been able to attract to this year’s tournament.

“With Clermont Auvergne eager to make their mark, together with Saracens, Worcester and the 20 Scottish teams, I feel that any one of a dozen sides is capable of winning the tournament,” he added.

“Add to that the unknown dimension of India and I believe we can look forward to yet another outstanding afternoon of top-quality sevens rugby.”

Prize money has been increased this year and will again be awarded to the defeated quarter and semi-finalists, runners-up and winners, along with the Ladies Centenary Cup and Sanderson Salver.

The tournament will also count towards the Kings of the Sevens competition.

This years’ Melrose Sevens theme will be the “Double O7s.”

The draw for the 2013 Melrose Sevens will be made in the clubrooms at the Greenyards on Saturday, March 23 at noon, prior to the game against Gala at Netherdale. Members of the public wishing to attend will be made very welcome.
