Teviotdale out in force

LAST Saturday, the Teviotdale Harriers held their annual club championships.

On a dreich day, three routes were run, all starting and finishing at Hawick Museum in Wilton Lodge Park. The races were sealed handicaps so all the runners start at the same time and the handicapped winner is not revealed until after the race.

In the children’s event Fraser Clyne was first home in the under-11 boys race in five minutes 32 seconds to take the Club Champion prize. Connor Sutherland was second in 6.32. Handicap winner was Lewis Renwick.

In the under-11 girls Connie Lothian took both club champion and handicap position in 6.4.

The under-13 boys race saw Jamie Waugh take the club championship in 5.53 with David Mercer second in 6.08 which also earned him the handicap win.

Ishbel Ingles (6.08) won the under-13 girls event with Holly Crawford (6.32) in second place (1st handicap).

Senior results:

Under-17 Boys: club champion, Kyle Potts (16.33); handicap winner, Keiran Pringle (22.27).

Ladies: 1, Pam Paxton (18.23); 2, Lauren Corbett (18.35); 3, Catherine Mercer (18.49). Handicap winner: Donna Ingles (20.28).

Men: 1, Craig Greive (43.35); 2, Derek Scott (45.26); 3, Alan Inglis (47.22). Handicap winner: Alan Inglis (47.22).

The next race, the last of the season, is the Cup races on Hawick Moor on Saturday, March 2, at noon. Presentation night will be on Friday, March 8, at the Volunteer.
