Hawick Waverley 5
Leithen Rovers 2
BEVERIDGE CUP QUARTER-FINAL
CURRENT Beveridge Cup holders, Waverley showed they are all for defending their trophy with a resounding victory on Saturday.
Ross Wallace gave Waverley the lead in heading home a Dean McColm corner kick.
With four minutes of the first half remaining, Waverley struck again. A long throw in from Wallace was only partially cleared by the Leithen defence and the ball broke to McColm who found the net with a shot on the volley.
After the break Waverley hit a purple patch that produced three fine goals in a 25 minute spell. Liam Lavery got the first, following a good run, with Andrew Maltman then doing the business in slotting away a shot after rounding the Leithen keeper.
Minutes later Maltman made it a nap hand for Waverley in steering a McColm corner into the net with his head.
Leithen hit back to score twice through Hagan Steele, the second being a penalty.
