BRAIDWOOD’S course layout manager (aka setter-upper) Jim Black had some concerns about what may be available to shoot after Saturday’s snap frost had affected most of the clay launchers adversely.
However, although remaining frosty all day, Sunday’s events went off without a hitch.
Nigel Rock (Kelso) had the strongest first-half performance of the day, winning the Braidwood Salver outright with his score of 36 ex-40 on layout one.
Gordon Boertien (Lockerbie) and Donald Livingston (Edinburgh) shared the runners-up slot, both breaking 34.
Fortunes changed on the second layout.
This time, Jack Carlyle (Dalton) and Lindsay Gordon (Prestonpans) tied the lead both having shot 35 ex-40.
Boertien stayed consistent, another 34 scored, along with Dave Allison (Hawick).
When it came to tallying the overall position for the event, two guns were revealed as having broken 68 ex-80, Boertien and Gordon sharing the aggregate slot. Rock was only a single point behind them, with Livingston having the third highest score of 66.
The cub holds its annual Christmas event on Sunday, December 16, a pre-entry only event which is now fully subscribed.
Two weeks later, the last competition of 2012 takes place on Sunday, December 30.
Rab Neil (North Berwick) has the opportunity to defend the Roger Tyrer Cup. Once again, entries close at noon and all are welcome.
