AITKEN TURNBULL UNDER-15 BORDER LEAGUE

EARLSTON HIGH SCHOOL played host to the third Aitken Turnbull Border League day in which six matches were played overall.

At Under-13 level, both Peebles and Berwickshire produced the biggest scorelines with convincing wins over Hawick A and Earlston respectively.

The final day of play for these teams is on Sunday, with Peebles looking almost certain to retain the title, bar any slip-ups against Hawick B. Medals for silver and bronze however, look likely to be hotly contested, with Berwickshire and Hawick A jostling for runners-up placings, drawn against each other on the final day.

At Under-15 level, there are still five matches to be played before pool winners and placings are determined, followed by semi-finals in February and finals day in March.

Earlston A broke their duck on Sunday with a runaway win over Hawick B, but an unexpected loss to Peebles B on the previous game day lost them valuable points and may have cost them a place in the semi-finals.

The Peebles A match against Hawick A showcased no fewer than eight district squad players, with the standard of play a reminder of how far netball has advanced in the Borders over the last few years.

Although the Teries lost, both teams look like they may have done enough to take them through to the championship semi-finals.
