APART from Melrose and Gala playing catch-up from the British and Irish Cup we have a little break now from league rugby which everyone seems to hate.
I have always gone on record to say that it’s a shame we get 11 weeks of good competitive league rugby building nicely, then the remaining seven games are spread over a period of seven months!
Why? I’m sorry but I will never be convinced that this is the right way to do things but that is what the majority of clubs (who make the decisions) want. Wouldn’t it be good to get the league done and dusted by the end of the year before cup and other competitions take place?
OK, rant over… for now. The Borders rugby rankings currently see the following teams in the top five as far as the league results are concerned and they make interesting reading with Peebles currently topping all four of the Premiership categories.
All stats for these rankings are taken from the league as every club plays 18 games at their own level, making it very fair.
But today we are also going to dip into the individual top five rankings for each of our eight top clubs with data from all competitions including the Border League and cup competitions.
