ST BOSWELLS’ Alan Bertram has been rewarded for his years of dedication to hammer throwing with another Scottish Athletics award.
The 76-year-old former policeman picked up the Tom Stillie Memorial Trophy for his services and commitment to the sport at last month’s Scottish Athletics end-of-season ceremony.
Two years ago he received recognition for services to coaching development at the same event.
Alan, originally from Northumberland, said: “I am still involved in hammer coaching, working on the development programme for Scottish Athletics, although I mostly work indoors now because it is too cold outside.
“We have three or four throwers who will make the Commonwealth Games in 2014 which is great.”
