THE second Border League day of the season was hosted by Berwickshire at the weekend, with five matches played at Under-13 and Under-15 levels.
Berwickshire might have expected a couple of convincing wins, with draws for their A teams against visiting B squads.
While all went to plan against Hawick Under-13B, it was a different matter, however, against a feisty Peebles Under-15B squad who played a stormer to push the older Berwickshire U15A to the final minute and looked threatening throughout.
Peebles U15B got their reward by turning the tables on Earlston U15A, notching up an unexpected, but well-deserved victory against their older rivals.
In the Under-13 section, Peebles and Berwickshire were on top form, both coming away with convincing wins. With two wins out of two, Peebles head the Under-13 league table.
The Under-15 league is played in two sections, with further matches to come before section leaders become clear.
