SELKIRK Amateur Operatic Society will make the short trip down the A7 to feature in Hawick PSA Male Voice Choir’s annual charity concert next month.
Last year the choir assembled a talented cast in support of Combat Stress, but 2012 sees the concert raise money for a cause much nearer to home – the Margaret Kerr Unit Appeal.
PSA vice president, and Selkirk resident, Kenneth Gunn, told The Wee Paper: “As well as the choir themselves, under the baton of Ann Witherington, the Lesley McFarlane Dancers will perform as well as the junior section of Hawick Saxhorn Band.
“The society is currently rehearsing for next spring’s show, Oliver, and will be singing songs from the production, as well as other musicals in both the first and second half.
“Add to that solos from members of the choir and also from guests Debbie Lyons, Joyce Tinlin, Steve Brown and Geoff Ross, and you can see that it will be non-stop musical entertainment.”
The concert takes place on Friday, November 2, at Hawick Town Hall, and doors open at 7pm.
Tickets are now on sale priced £6 from McCuddens newsagents or choir members.
