MELROSE coach Craig Chalmers has made two changes in the backs ahead of this Saturday’s clash with Stirling County at the Greenyards.

Glasgow elite development players Fraser Thomson and Bruce Dick are both injured and are replaced by Sam Chalmers (15) & Richard Mill (13) respectively.

In the forwards there is one change with Roddy Grant going back to Edinburgh after a great shift against Llandovery last weekend, so John Dalziel reverts to blind side and Ross Ovens comes in at lock.

Commenting on his team’s prospects this weekend Chalmers said: “After our two weeks with mixed success in the B&I cup, we look forward to getting back to our league campaign

“I feel we have raised our levels of performance over the last couple of weeks playing against quality teams and if we can build on them we can benefit over the next few weeks where we have some vital league fixtures.

“Stirling will be looking to avenge their narrow defeat to us at Bridgehaugh on the opening weekend of the season. They have some exceptional young talent in the form of Sean Kennedy, Stuart Edwards, Danny Gilmour and Robbie Boswell, but also have a strong pack who are excellent at the set piece.

“A must win game to stay in contention with the leading pack in the title race.”

Melrose team to play Stirling County at the Greenyards (3pm): S. Chalmers; L. Mallin, R. Mill, J. Helps, U. Kalamafoni Jnr; A. Skeen, B. Colvine; N. Little, A. Walker, G. Holborn, R. Ovens, R. Miller, J. Dalziel, G. Runciman, A. Nagle. Subs: W. Mitchell, C. Arthur, S. Johnston, S. Mccormick, A. Jessop.
