SIX members of Hawick Amateur Swimming Club took part in the Hearts Premier Age Group Meet at Prestonpans.
Jenna Amos was first to compete – in the 50m freestyle – and she recorded a personal best in the 11 and unders.
Rhiann Ferguson followed with another PB and a fifth slot in the 12 years age group. Liam Caldwell (11 and under) and Mark Messer (13) also turned in PBs in the 50m freestyle.
The 50m butterfly was next on the card and Mark took more than four seconds off his previous best time to finish fourth. This was followed by the 200m breaststroke and Eilidh Jaffray swam her first event, producing an impressive PB in the 11 and unders. Jenna, Rhiann and Liam all recorded PBs with the latter clinching sixth place in the 11 and under section.
In the afternoon Mark started off with the 50m backstroke, bagging his third PB out of three swims.
The 200m freestyle came next with Jenna swimming close to her PB and Eilidh recording a PB, while Ruaridh McCall was also at his best in the 14 years section.
The Hawick swimmers’ last event was the 50m breaststroke. Jenna and Eilidh both gave good accounts of themselves, with Jenna taking sixth place. Rhiann swam another impressive PB to come fourth for the 12-year-olds. Ruaridh also turned a PB performance to round off a successful and enjoyable day for the team.
