BOROUGHMUIR RUGBY in association with the Bill McLaren Foundation are holding a fundraising dinner at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh on Friday, November 9 – the start of a busy rugby weekend with the All Blacks at Murrayfield on the Sunday.
The dinner is to celebrate 10 years since the Boroughmuir team won Melrose 7s; Bill’s very last commentary. To mark the occasion a poster has been produced from the day including the match programme, Bill’s commentary notes, a ticket from the day and a picture of the winning Boroughmuir 7.
Guest speaker at the event is the highly popular Sir Ian McGeechan – a rugby icon – and his views of the game, especially when the British & Irish Lions are touring Australia at the end of this rugby season will be fascinating.
His former centre partner, Jim Renwick – a former pupil of Bill McLaren – will also be on the toast list which will be compered by former Watsonian stalwart, Willie Hunter.
New Zealand Rugby Union President, and All Blacks legend Bryan Williams, will be a guest for the evening.
It promises to be an event not to be missed and if you want to guarantee a ticket you should contact Boroughmuir’s Allan Mackay on 0131 443 1936 or John Thorburn on john@billmclarenfoundation.co.uk or 07929 655132.
