TEN of the world’s best darts players will be rolling into Kelso next week for what is likely to be the biggest non-televised event of the year.

And, this week, TheSouthern is offering a chance for five readers to join in the fun.

Springwood Hall is expected to be packed to the gunnels for the two-day extravaganza. On Friday, September 28, the venue will host the Nations Cup, which will see four teams of pro players lock horns for international darts supremacy.

Local hero Gary Anderson will team up with John Henderson to represent Scotland and the pair will go head-to-head with, Adie Lewis and James Wade (England); Simon Whitlock and Paul Nicolson (Australia) and Ray Barneveld and Mark Webster (Rest of the World).

The following day, Phil (The Power) Taylor and Scot Robert Thornton will join the fray as local darts players get their chance to hone their skills against the pros.

They, along with the forementioned eight will take on the Borders qualifiers for the Dalgleish Citroen Borders Masters title, prize money – and a car, should anyone rise to the nine-dart challenge.

Qualifiers for Saturday’s Dalgleish Borders Masters are: Ryan Hogarth, Kevin Richardson, Stevie Patterson and Karen Darling (all Kelso); Barry Dalgleish (Gala); Kevin Ingles (Hawick); Scott McDonald (Motherwell); and John Goldie and Colin Mitchell (both Alloa).

The draw will be made live on Radio Borders tomorrow night.

Meanwhile, TheSouthern has teamed up with event organisers to give away five pairs of tickets for next Friday night’s Five Nations Cup event. To be in with a chance of winning, all you have to do is answer the following question.

In which Borders town did Scottish darts legend Gary Anderson formerly live?

Send your answer, along with your name, address, telephone number and date of birth to: The Southern Reporter, The Hermitage, High Street, Selkirk TD7 4DA; or email fionascott@tweeddalepress.co.uk

Competition closes at 5pm on Tuesday, September 25.

T&Cs at www.thesouthernreporter.co.uk. Over-18s only.

Unlucky readers can still purchase tickets for both events on 07872 078715 (Davie Hanson) or 07958 642751 (Kevin Green)or online at www.dartshop.tv
