A HAT-TRICK from Natasha McLaren helped Kelso Ladies overcome second-placed George Heriots.

Having lost 5-1 in their previous match against Inverleith, Kelso started with a very determined approach, but fell behind on 15 minutes as Heriots managed to take full advantage of an interception to create a one-on-one with Kelso keeper Tamara Cook and slot home the first goal of the game.

Kelso responded by creating several opportunities from penalty corners, but none found the net.

However, after George Heriots suffered an injury to one of their own players, superb skills from McLaren slotted in two goals for the home side.

Just before the half-time whistle, Emma Pate picked up a rebound in the circle and put away Kelso’s third goal of the game.

The second half was a tough half for the home side with a lot of early pressure from Heriots, but due to some very strong defending from Louise Denholm, Kim Carruthers, Nicola McKay and Jane Lofthouse, the home side frustrated the city ladies.

McLaren added a fourth as she fired into the bottom corner of the goal.

With minutes to go, the away team bagged their second goal of the match.

Kelso Ladies thanked Caroline Barron for umpiring the game.

Kelso Ladies: T. Cook, L. Denholm, N. McKay, K. Carruthers, J. Lofthouse, D. Paxton, E. Pate, N. McLaren, H. Wallwork, E. Turnbull, S. Fleming, S. Hope, K. Macfarlane, N. Wilson, O. Kerr.
