SELKIRK and Vale of Leithen await this afternoon’s Scottish Cup second round draw - both hoping for the plum fixture of Rangers - after securing impressive away victories.
Selkirk won 2-0 at Glasgow University thanks to goals from David Battle and Aaron Butters, with the students’ Aaron Scouler sent off.
Vale travelled to South of Scotland team Threave Rovers and returned home with a 1-0 win due to Danny Noon’s header.
Former Rangers and Millwall striker Tom Brighton notched a hat-trick - and also missed a penalty - as Irvine Meadow thumped Gala Fairydean 4-0.
Ron Fleming’s controversial early sending off didn’t helped Hawick Royal Albert’s attempt to make round two against Highland side Golspie Sutherland, who won 4-2. Hawick’s goalscorers were Paul Power and Jason Wood.
Coldstream are also out of the Scottish Cup, after a 4-0 loss at Fraserburgh.
Elsewhere, Kelso United were on the end of a 6-1 mauling by Heriot-Watt University, Calum McClure the Tweedsiders scorer.
In the First Division, Peebles Rovers drew 1-1 at Ormiston, while Eyemouth United beat Berwick Rangers Reserves 4-2.
