East Kilbride beat Kelso by 97 runs

MURGITROYD CUP SEMI-FINALS

KELSO lost in the semi-finals to an East Kilbride team who showed their experience to bowl their way to a 97-run victory.

A youthful Kelso side showed some great spirit with the ball and in the field to keep East Kilbride to 153 for 8 at the close. Bruce Grindell, with three wickets, and Stephen Patterson and Callum Davidson with two each were the pick of the Kelso bowlers.

Kelso never really got going in the run chase, however, and lost wickets regularly with only Doug Wilson and Thomas Roberts reaching double figures.

Fine pace and spin bowling from East Kilbride allowed them to bowl Kelso out for 56 with Umair Saeed the pick of the bowlers.

In the other semi-final, Carlton beat Arbroath by three wickets before going on to beat East Kilbride in the final by 17 runs.
