Gala beat Livingston by 120 runs
EAST LEAGUE DIVISION THREE
Gala maintained their position at the top of Division Three with another comfortable victory.
Put into bat, captain Stevie Halls was in no mood to hang around, scoring 29 in just 34 balls before he top-edged a pull and was caught at fine leg with the score on 40.
His opening partner David Boland was struggling to get going, but was happy to dig in and support both Halls and then Josh Irvine (26), who was in good form before chipping Anwar to short mid-wicket with the score on 92.
This brought Graeme Ormiston to the crease, and he and Boland added 125 for the third wicket as Gala cruised past 200 yet again.
Wickets fell late in the innings as first Ormiston (55) was bowled, swinging across the line to Ahmed, and Boland was stumped off the same bowler for 84.
In reply the Kumars, first Anandh then Senthil – after surviving an early chance in the slips with Dinesh Tharanga yet again the unlucky bowler – struck the ball powerfully for the visitors. However, the inexperienced Gala bowling attack stuck to their guns and when these two departed, Livingston had little to offer the run chase, but proved stuffy at the wicket, batting into the 41st over for their total of 116. Robbie Pringle and Dean Moir took two wickets each, as did spin pair Ormiston and Neil Crooks.
