RACING to the final of the Walker Groundworks Kelso Harlequins Sevens, without conceding a point in their first three games, underlined the wonderful grasp that Selkirk Youth Club have on the short version of the game.
They charged to the final of the Quins tournament, overcoming Langholm Colts, Gala Wanderers and Melrose Colts on the way. The final saw them repeat their fine form by overpowering a gallant home team for a second win in the Semi-Junior Spring circuit.
There were some exciting ties with Selkirk v Gala Wands and Jed Thistle v Kelso Quins being the pick. The title-holders, Tynedale- came up short in their second round tie against Melrose Colts.
The player of the tournament was in the Youth Club side, Callum McEwan although there were several others who could have been give the award.
