THIS Saturday sees the inaugural Hawick Linden Sevens taking place at the Volunteer Park.

The event has been arranged at short notice in order to fill in a gap in the Sevens calendar at junior level and the Hawick Club hope it will become a permanent fixture.

Eight teams are taking part and will be split into two pools with the top two in each group going forward to the semi-finals. Hawick Harlequins, Selkirk, Annan and Berwick form Pool A with Hawick Linden, Kelso, Penicuik and North Berwick in Pool B. First tie is at 12.30pm.

Teams will be playing for the Life Members Cup and medals, donated by George Storey, Bill Russell and Rob Beattie, whilst Moria Black, wife of President Rob, has donated the Player of the Tournament Trophy.

Players and Officials teas are sponsored by G. Harrow & Son, Home Bakery to whom the Linden are most grateful. Food and drinks will be available throughout the afternoon.
