SELKIRK Mini Hockey Club have enjoyed a competitive season which resulted in a very closely-fought league.
With two teams tying on 26 points and one game to go against each other, matters reached a climax on Tuesday evening.
After some great play by both teams the score was 1-1, goals by Alex Bell and Danielle Walker, with three minutes remaining.
A great run through by Alex was cut short by great defending from Caitlin Wright.
Her clearance found Danielle, who drove the ball into the circle and scored. Lucy Forsyth followed shortly with another one, making the final score 3-1 for the Greens.
Minis Coach Sara Jamieson thanked annual sponsors Tony and Ida Crolla for their continued support of the Indoor League and added: “As usual we are going to be left with a drop of numbers with the P7s going up to high school.
“I wish them all the best and hope they keep up the hard work they have put in with us.”
Easter eggs were awarded for full attendance and top goal scorer (21), both of which were given to Alex Bell and presented by Mrs Crolla, along with the cup and medals.
Selkirk Mini Hockey will be holding their annual outdoors tournament tomorrow, from 11am-2pm, at the cricket club, with 14 teams competing in two ages groups, Under-12s and Under-10s. All support welcome.
