BAL DIVISION C
GALA Hotspur could find no way past 10-man Winton, who defeated the Division C leaders for the third time this season.
In a game of few clear-cut chances, Winton had the better of the first half, hitting the post and forcing Scott Crawford into a superb save. Crawford then denied Gavin Begbie with a fine stop at the feet of the striker, who was clean through.
Gary Cleghorn appeared to have given Spurs the lead when he lobbed the ball into an empty net, but a Winton defender came back to clear off the line.
Winton grabbed the winning goal 10 minutes into the second half as Jordan Shepherd beat Gala’s offside trap to score.
But the hosts then had a player sent off for a second yellow and were forced to defend.
Lee Brown and Andy Hardie both went close for the visitors, while Kenny Paterson missed a late chance to equalise.
