Peebles 19
Hillhead/Jordanhill 19
PREMIER C
PEEBLES were unfortunate not to come away from this game with full points after dominating the opening half.
Playing his final game for Peebles before returning home to New Zealand, Tahari Walsh kicked off the scoring in the early stages, with Greg Raeburn converting.
The hosts maintained the pressure and Neil Hogarth went over for try number two which was scored too wide out to convert.
After the restart, Hillhead came back with a breakaway try, but still Peebles looked the stronger side. Disaster struck shortly afterwards, however, when Scott Raeburn was yellow-carded and the Hillhead forwards went on a rampage which resulted in a converted drive-over try, levelling the scores.
Still with a numerical advantage, the hosts scored again when their No8 went over following a series of scrums and it looked as though the game was slipping away from Gerry McGuiness’s men.
However, in the last play, prop Toetu Mapuilesua slipped a clever inside pass to Donald Anderson, who dotted down for Greg Raeburn to convert.
