PREMIER B

A POOR start from Jed saw the hosts run in a converted try after only three minutes of this game, followed shortly by a second touchdown.

Ewan Scott kicked the first points for Jed through a penalty, but immediately after this Stewart’s scored another converted try.

The home backs were taking more and more control, but just before the break the visitors scored their first try when David Grieve romped in from 25m to score under the posts, giving Ewan Scott the easiest of conversions.

Half-time score: 19-10.

The Jed cause was not helped when, immediately after the restart James Hogg was yellow-carded for continual infringements.

Nevertheless, the visitors managed to prevent Stewart’s from adding to their lead during this period and with all things equal again Connor Hogg scored after some constant forward drives on the home team’s line. Scott made the conversion.

With 10 minutes remaining Stewart’s attacked Jed’s line through their well-organised backs and were denied a certain score when a last-gap tackle by Lewis Young kept them out. The Riverside Park men were defending incessantly and eventually gave away a penalty with five minutes left.

A scrum on the Stewart’s line saw the visitors make one final push – Andrew Nagle scoring his first try for Jed to level, before Ewan Scott stroked over the conversion to win the game in style.
