CALLS have been made to ban dogs from the Netherdale area of Galashiels.
Former Scottish Borders Council leader Drew Tulley made the plea at this month’s community council meeting after hearing dog fouling had been spotted on the sports ground’s back pitches.
Mr Tulley said: “The council should ban dogs in that area – it is a recreational area.”
Galashiels councillor Fiona Lackenby replied: “It is in the warden’s area, but they are obviously not there often enough.”
Meanwhile, police reported 20 dog fouling complaints in the past month in Galashiels, with seven warnings dished out.
There were also six incidents of fly-tipping, with Croft Street among the problem areas.
