VISITORS who mosey along to this year’s Aberdeen Asset Management Melrose Sevens can be assured of an all-guns-blazing reception, minus the guns.
The official launch of the sevens theme took place at The Greenyards last weekend with the announcement that “The Magnificent Seven(s)” is to be the costume that counts. There will be prizes for the most authentic dress code, with groups, senior and junior sections.
Needless to say the law-abiding and peaceful folks of Melrose Rugby Club have made it clear that guns of any description will not be allowed, but stetsons and chaps will be welcome.
In addition, it was announced that the hoedown following the main event will feature that famous man from the wild west (of Scotland) – John Beattie and his band – and tribute act Miss Gaga.
The Davidson Chalmers Vets Tournament takes place on Friday, April 13, and it has a real international flavour to it with teams from Hong Kong, Orkney, the Cayman Islands and Tynedale among those taking part in the 12-team event.
