A Steven Makepeace double clinched victory for Newtown over plucky Division C side Hawick Legion Rovers.
The home side had the upper hand for most of the game, but resolute defending by Rovers, as well as a string of excellent saves from young keeper James Gillespie kept the scoreline blank in the first half.
Newtown took the lead on the hour mark through Makepeace, who added to his tally a minute from time.
