EoS FIRST DIVISION
GEORGE RILEY reports from Woodside Park
THE players and coaches of Kelso United managed to enjoy their annual club dinner on Saturday evening, thanks to a gritty win over high-flying Eyemouth.
After eight minutes Des Burnett drove wide from a Jordan Lauder cross, before Eyemouth’s Stuart Coyle hit the crossbar from 30yds.
Kelso got the breakthrough in the 35th minute, Burnett and Lauder working well for the former to make no mistake from 10 yards.
Then Damien McNulty shot inches over the bar from a Chris Black free kick.
The second period had only gone four minutes when the visitors got their goal through Jonny Simpson from six yards.
But Kelso went ahead again within five minutes as Burnett knocked it back for Callum Webb to fire a low shot into the corner of the net.
Eyemouth tried hard to find the equaliser, but the home defence stood firm to see Kelso record their first win of 2012.
