Three boys from St Mary’s School in Melrose have been selected to represent the Scottish Prep Schools XV.
Christopher Bell, 13, will captain the side and play as scrum-half, Finlay Rutherford, 13, is in the second row, and Harri Morris, 12, will take to the field as wing forward.
Both Christopher and Finlay have come through the ranks of Gala rugby, starting in the Mini Maroons in Primary 3 to now playing for Gala Red Triangle. Harri, a boarder at St Mary’s, plays for the slightly less local Southport Sharks.
The boys selection comes on the back of a successful District match where the South and East Prep Schools (St Mary’s, Fettes, Loretto, Belhaven and Cargilfield) beat their North and East counterparts (Ardvreck, Lathallan, Craigclowan and Aberlour) earlier this month.
This Sunday, November 24, the Scottish Prep Schools play an Edinburgh Barbarians Select at 2pm on the Greenyards pitch.
