Hockey’s Regional Goal Keeping Academy came to a close on Sunday afternoon after a very successful set of training sessions.

Graham Stuart put the keepers through their paces, teaching them current goal- keeping patterns used by the national squads.

Graham’s enthusiasm and positivity had an impact on the participants, and he was quick to point out how far they had come over the three months the academy has been running. So much so that Caroline Duff, aged 15, a member of Fjordhus Reivers club and a pupil at Jedburgh Grammar School, was identified as a talented young player and asked to join the Scottish Hockey Goal Keepers Academy. Duff said she was “over the moon” to be selected and is committed to attending the sessions. She hopes to push for the Scottish Under-18 squad to attend the European Championships next season.

She added: “I have learned so much in such a short time from Graham, but I know that there is still so much more ahead of me. It has been a great opportunity for me through Borders Hockey Development and I am extremely focused and keen to give it my best effort.”
