NINE Teviotdale Turbos members dipped their toes in the waters of Duns last weekend and returned submerged in glory.
Competing at the Duns Challenge Meet, the Hawick-based Turbos, some having their first competitive swim, put on a superb performance to scoop five gold medals and record 23 personal best times from 25 swims.
First up to swim was Emma Suddon, in the 100m freestyle race. She had a great race, knocking four seconds off her previous time to take gold.
Emily Angus and Amy Johnson were next and both girls took their first competition in their stride, swimming great breaststroke races, with Amy winning her heat. Sophie Hill, Jenny Sharp and Mairead Cottrell also swam breaststroke with Mairead winning the silver medal, knocking three seconds off her previous swim.
Amy Hill got her first swim of the day in the freestyle, along with teammates Amy Johnston and Emily Angus. Again, the girls did well with Emily winning her heat.
The boys were next up with Charlie Jack and Harry Scott competing in the freestyle and also performing well. Sophie and Jenny had good freestyle races, with Jenny winning her heat.
In the butterfly, Emily, Amy Johnson, Harry, Charlie, and Emma competed, with the latter again winning the gold medal in her race.
Backcrawl was next with Harry, Charlie, Mairead and Amy swimming. Charlie had a great race to take the bronze medal.
The last race of the day was the 100m individual medley. Jenny, Mairead and Emma competed, with Emma completing her hat-trick of medals when taking the gold once again.
