Eyemouth United 3
Peebles Rovers 3
EoS FIRST DIVISION
PEEBLES’ position near the foot of the First Division table remained unchanged this week despite managing to hold lofty Eyemouth to a draw at Warner Park.
Other results kept the Rovers in their second-bottom spot, but boss Stuart Robertson was heartened by the performance of his team.
He told TheSouthern: “I couldn’t fault the players on Saturday. We are very happy to get a point, but it should have been three. There were a couple of dubious decisions which ultimately led to goals from Eyemouth, but that’s the way it goes sometimes and hopefully we will get the rub of the green at some point.
“Credit to Eyemouth, though. Their goalie was superb and made some outstanding saves to keep them in the game.”
Peebles were one-up in the first minute following a rash challenge by a home defender and Nicky Cairns tucked the ball away neatly from the penalty spot.
By the first minute of the second half, however, Eyemouth had gone 3-1 up – a goal either side of the break adding to an earlier strike.
Peebles stuck in, though, and with 15 minutes to go Jimmy Telfer struck a marvellous shot which ricocheted off the post into the net, and with time running out, sub Dale McColl slotted the equaliser.
