ROB HILL reports from The Meadows
IT WAS back to league business after a four-week lay-off due to poor weather and the long trip to Ellon which could have proved a banana skin.
To make matters worse, a gale-force blizzard followed by driving rain.
Ellon kicked off playing with the elements in the first half, but it was the Redskins who struck first when Dean McCracken dotted under the posts to give YM an early lead. Matty Douglas kicked the conversion.
Ellon’s only contribution in an error -strewn first half was a penalty goal, before the YM pack drove over the line, Stephen Hill emerging with the ball and Douglas adding the extras to give the Teries a comfortable half-time lead of 14-3.
The second half started with the howling gale in YM’s favour and a big score was expected, which they duly delivered with a 29-point haul in the half. Steven Mabon (2), Rory Scott, Garry Douglas and Glyn Desport rounded of the try-count with Matty Douglas adding a further two conversions.
