SELKIRK musician Kyle Rutherford is returning to America – eight months since he was wrongfully arrested and sent to prison in New York.
The 24-year-old bassist flies this weekend to the United States for a three-week tour of North America with his heavy metal band Cerebral Bore.
The tour begins on Sunday in Houston, Texas and concludes on March 9 in Brooklyn, New York – the city where he and guitarist Paul McGuire were detained in an overcrowded and disgusting jail cell for 37 hours after they were wrongly connected to the murder of four people.
Kyle said: “I can’t wait to get across there, although we will have to behave in New York! We are also playing in Canada for the first time so that will be great.
“I am really looking forward to appearing in Hollywood’s Whisky A Go Go venue,” he added, which has previously hosted Led Zeppelin and The Ramones among many others.
And upon arriving home next month, the group are immediately back on the road around the UK and Ireland.
Kyle added: “It is going to be really manic, as we get back on March 12 and play a show in London the next day.
“I think we are progressing well, and are now getting to play with bigger bands.”
Last weekend, Kyle and the band performed at the HMV Ritz in Manchester and have also recorded a new song, ahead of an expected new album to be made and released later this year.
