Age: 15.

Home Town: Newtown St Boswells.

Sport: Judo.

GRADE: 1st kyu (brown belt) – 52kg.

Club: Sportif Judo Club.

Coach: Peter Gardiner.

Best moment in sport so far: Winning the Heart of England Championship, Scottish Championship and the British Championship within four weeks of each other in 2009.

Aims for the next 12 months: To get a place in the British Cadets and medal in the European Championships 2012. Also to win the Scottish and British Championships 2012.

How does the ASP help you most: It allows me to work on strength and conditioning with Stuart Paton twice a week which helps me to compete. I have also benefited from the physio and podiatrist after an injury to my knee.

Who in sport most inspires you: I am inspired by many people from different sports. From Muhammad Ali to Kosie Inue, but I think my coach Peter Gardiner is a great inspiration. Also George Kerr, he has achieved so much and done a lot to promote the sport of Judo.

FavOURITE sporting moment of all time: I love Muhammad Ali’s Rumble in the Jungle. Also watching the 2008 Olympics, although I had to get up at 4am to be able to watch the Judo.

Best thing about your sport: Winning, competing and travelling to different places and countries. Also meeting new people and training with a great group of friends.

... but dislike: Early morning weigh-ins.

If not in this sport, would like to compete in: Football, as my papa (Fred Blackie) is a great coach. Or boxing, we did this in training and it was great fun.

Usual pre-competition meal: Pasta and meatballs the night before, but a cereal bar, banana and a packet of jelly babies after weigh-in.

Food dislikes: Milk, cheese, eggs, spicy food, tomato, potatoes ... actually loads, I’m really picky.

Best motivational song or track: Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana.

... but turn off/leave the room to: Justin Bieber or One Direction.

Competition superstition or odd routine: I always wear the same pair of weigh in trousers and then once I’m warmed up I listen to the same playlist on my ipod.

When not competing or training I like to: Sleep, eat, relax and catch up with friends.
